After suffering the biggest defeat so far of any team at the Rugby World Cup, Uruguay might be forgiven for feeling despondent.

But that is not how this group of largely of amateur players is recovering from the 65-3 drubbing inflicted upon them by Australia in Group A.

Facing Fiji on Wednesday morning (Tuesday UK time), the team is confident it has got a chance of winning.

Scottish fly-half Duncan Weir insists the Scotland squad were not shocked by Japan beating South Africa and says it acts as a warning ahead of Wednesday’s meeting.

“We understood that Japan are a growing nation and they’ve been playing some good rugby,” said Weir.

Welsh halfback Rhys Webb has vowed to channel their Australian heart-break in order to turn the Autumn around with Fiji up on their sights.

Wales were so close again against the Wallabies but Bernard Foley sealed a tenth straight win over Warren Gatland’s men with a late drop goal.
