Cheika to coach Wallabies and ‘Tahs

Waratahs coach Michael Cheika has been named as the new head coach of the Wallabies by the Australian Rugby Union on a three-year contract, effective immediately.

Cheika’s appointment follows Ewen McKenzie’s resignation after Australia’s 29-28 loss to New Zealand in Brisbane on Saturday.

Wallabies head coach Ewen McKenzie announced his resignation at the post-match press conference following Saturday’s 29-28 loss to New Zealand.

Australian Rugby Union CEO Bill Pulver paid tribute to McKenzie who has led Australia in 22 Tests since starting in the role in August 2013.
