Former Test referee Jonathan Kaplan has waded into the debate around the All Blacks’ recent history of receiving yellow cards.

The most experienced official in the history of Test rugby has suggested that international referees have grown wary of New Zealand using “marginal tactics” to avoid conceding tries when under pressure.

Fiji to lodge referee complaint

Fiji have announced plans to lodge a formal complaint about a referee who handed the side a world record of five yellow cards in a Test against Italy.

Fiji were briefly reduced to 11 men in the first-half of the 37-31 loss in Cremona when four players were sin-binned during eight minutes of mayhem.
