Wasps have announced the signing of Samoan international winger Sailosi Tagicakibau from London Irish.

The ‘Samoan flyer’ lit up the Aviva Premiership on numerous occasions during his nine seasons playing for the Exiles, with his blistering pace and power producing an impressive try scoring record.

Tagicakibau, who has 21 caps for Samoa and has also represented the Pacific Islands, has most recently been playing for South African Super Rugby side the Stormers while on loan from Irish.

Samoan international Sailosi Tagicakibau has returned from his loan stint with the Stormers in Super Rugby, but has not participated in Irish’s pre-season training so far.

Quins backs coach Mark Mapletoft is brimming with excitement about the prospect of Asaeli Tikoirotuma and Marland Yarde being his new wings.

The Super Rugby winner and England finisher’s combined arrival should wow the crowds at the Twickenham Stoop, adding real depth to Quins.

Former Flying Fijians coach Wayne Pivac has received a glowing recommendation to take the Scarlets top job in the RaboDirect Pro12 competition by former Wales back Shane Howarth.

Assistant Scarlets coach Pivac is rumoured to be the front-runner to replace the outgoing Simon Easterby, who has left the side to become Ireland’s new forwards coach.

Pivac selected by the Fiji Rugby Union to coach the Flying Fijians from 2004 preparing for the 2007 Rugby World Cup but left the squad in 2007 a few months away from the French championship.

Scarlets have confirmed the addition of experienced Fijian winger Michael Tagicakibau to the regional squad on Thursday.

Tagicakibau, 29, today joins the Scarlets ahead of the 2014-15 season bringing with him a wealth of Aviva Premiership club rugby and international experience.

Michael Tagicakibau makes the move to West Wales from Saracens, the younger brother of London Irish winger Sailosi, will be an exciting and experienced addition to a thrilling Scarlets back-three which includes international full-back Liam Williams, former Wales U20 speedster Jordan Williams as well as new addition, 21 year old winger, Harry Robinson.

Chiefs winger Aseli Tikoirotuma, the Fijian international back, has signed a two-year contract with Harlequins.

The 27-year-old will join the London club in August when his current Super Rugby commitments with the Waikato Chiefs come to an end.

Persuading the sought after Tikoirotuma to come to the Northern Hemisphere is a coup for Harlequins, who beat a number of other clubs on either side of the Equator to his signature.

The powerful back started his professional career in New Zealand playing with Wanganui in the Heartland Championship for five years, before making the move to ITM Cup club Manawatu in 2010.

Leicester Tigers are working to keep Vereniki Goneva and Pablo Matera at the club next season despite interest from elsewhere.

Goneva has been heavily linked with a move to Top 14 side Castres for next season, while Pablo Matera is likely to play a part in Super Rugby following the creation of a new Argentinian franchise.

The Fijian wing has been in outstanding form for Leicester this season, scoring ten tries in 18 games including five in his last four matches.

“Niki has had an offer from Castres and that is for him to decide what he wants to do,” Cockerill told the Leicester Mercury.
