Fraser Brown scored two tries on his first appearance as Scotland captain as Gregor Townsend’s side returned to action with an eight-try victory over Georgia. With Stuart Hogg aiming to complete a trophy double with the new European champions, Exeter, Brown was handed the armband on his 51st international appearance and marked the occasion by crossing twice after lineout mauls.

The Flying Fijians have landed back home to a mild reception after a mediocre Rugby World Cup tournament finishing third in their Pool D with Wales topping the five teams.

After fans got hyped up with the big names in the team, a mixed bag of results with warm up matches with the Maori All Blacks and Pacific Nations Cup, there was high hopes and foreboding thoughts simultaneously.

McKee IDs Georgia’s power

Flying Fijians coach John McKee has identified the strength of the Georgians in their pool D match today at the Hanazono Rugby Stadium which is their only hope of regaining some semblance of dignity after the two losses in as many games at the Rugby World Cup.

“We know Georgia’s strengths and are prepared for a battle around the set pieces and the breakdown” McKee told Fiji Rugby Union.

Fiji needs two bonus points wins (with a whiff of a chance) to advance

Fiji needs a miracle to advance to the playoffs of the Rugby World Cup after the shock 27-30 loss to Uruguay yesterday at the Kamaishi Recovery Memorial Stadium.

With the two points gained; one from the four tries scored and the other point by losing by less the seven points; Fiji needs to see the results from the seeded teams; Australia and especially Wales to falter with no bonus points to advance.

Tonga scored three tries in the final quarter as they came from behind to beat Georgia 23-9 in Tbilisi on Saturday.

Trailing 9-6 on the hour mark, the Islanders turned on the gas, scoring three unanswered tries in 12 minutes to kick off their European tour with a bang.
