Fiji coach John McKee admits it’s frustrating to still be without a point despite three impressive displays in the World Cup.

Having already lost hard-fought games against England and Australia, Fiji were beaten 23-13 in Cardiff by Wales, in a game that could have gone either way.

Trailing by four points after 50 minutes, Fiji looked to be in the ascendancy before two Dan Biggar penalties dragged Wales out of reach.

However it was yet another impressive performance from Fiji, who have troubled all three World Cup contenders in their group.

They now regroup ahead of a final game against Uruguay, and while they only have fourth place in the pool to play for, McKee is desperate to finish the tournament on a high.

“It’s very frustrating to be at this point with no points on the table,” said McKee.

“We knew what a difficult pool we were coming into but we had high expectations, a good talented group of players. To play, England, Australia and Wales in 13 days is a tough task for any team in rugby.

“We’ve really stood up to those teams and been so competitive in these games. It was a great Test match in terms of the intensity and contest.

“Congratulations to Wales for coming out on top but I’m extremely proud of our team with the effort and hard work. Although it’s frustrating I cannot fault our team for the effort they put into the game.”
