Australian Rugby Union (ARU) chief executive Bill Pulver has stated that head coach Ewen McKenzie will lead the squad into next year’s World Cup.

The Wallabies have been under the spotlight after losing to Argentina came in the midst of their team business manager Di Patston resigning following a dispute with Kurtley Beale en route to South America. It since emerged that offensive text messages had earlier been sent by Beale.

Australia are now preparing for this weekend’s game against New Zealand before they head to Europe for the November internationals, with a statement from Pulver giving boss McKenzie his full backing to take the team forward, ultimately to the 2015 World Cup being held in England.

“I can confirm the ARU has not had any conversations with any other coaches regarding the Wallabies coaching position,” Pulver said.

“Ewen is coaching the team this weekend and next Friday he will board the plane with the team for the spring (European) tour, and is contracted to Australian Rugby to lead the Wallabies to next year’s Rugby World Cup.”
