Two of the Clermont trio attacked last month, Benjamin Kayser and Julien Pierre, have been passed fit to play in the Top 14 this weekend.

Kayser and Pierre, who were both hospitalised following an attack by a gang in Millau while away on their training camp ahead of the new season.

Pierre required surgery for deep cuts following the assault in July, which shocked the rugby world.

Clermont captain Aurélien Rougerie, the third player who was assaulted, returned to action last weekend in the season opening 30-26 win over Grenoble.

In addition to the two French stars, new signing Jonathan Davies is in contention to make his first competitive appearance for the club since joining from the Scarlets.

The Wales and British and Irish Lions star could come in for Noa Nakaitaci, who sprained his right ankle and is out for three weeks, while prop Clément Ric is also out.
