Fiji’s second pool opponent in France, Canada; is a team that has grown leaps and bounds with the imminent world cup closing in quickly in two months.
The Canucks held a full All Blacks team 13-26 at the breather last month and had earlier beaten closest North American rival the USA by scoring over 50 points in their last two encounters.
So Fiji has to be alert and stay close to the Canadian’s progress as their match gets closer at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff at the 2pm on Sunday 16 September (2am 17 September Fiji Time).
The Canadians which have to overcome quite a few obstacles being an amateur minority sports will be doing a lot fundraising to cover their expenses for the trip.
But Rugby Canada has seen it as an opportunity to allow the team to travel and play two provincial teams and two internationals against Portugal across the country as an opportunity for the rugby followers to meet the players and incorporate fundraising dinners in the process.
This is the promotional Rugby Canada is using on their website for the August tour schedule:
As Canada rolls into the final few months towards World Cup 2007 there will be a number of opportunities for fans from across the country to see the team in action and also in various social settings as they tour coast to coast.
With matches in Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa and Newfoundland, as well as fund raising dinners in those cities, it is a great opportunity for rugby supporters to do just that, support their team through attending the games and dinners, and show the players they care about how they do in France.
